I am documenting the process of shedding my social persona through Saju-myeongri and humanistic reflection in search of a life that is truly my own. As the first entry of this record, I would like to share the story of why I, as an engineer, came to study Saju, which I once dismissed as superstition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>Saju is Pseudoscience<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To be honest, Saju was nothing but a 'superstition' to me.<\/strong> As an engineer who took logical proof based on rational evidence for granted, Saju, which determines a person's fate based on their time of birth,<\/strong> seemed to belong to the realm of the unscientific.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I thought it was utterly nonsensical to categorize people solely by their birth time; if that were true, the lives of people born at the exact same moment should be nearly identical, yet they are not. In fact, I had a friend in school with the same birthday as me, but our life trajectories were worlds apart\u2014unlike me, who was driven by academic achievement, that friend had no interest in studying. Seeing another 'birthday mate' at work with a completely different disposition only made my skepticism toward Saju even more entrenched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>Living Diligently, but Not Happy<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I studied and worked hard to join a prestigious company. My meticulous personality led me to scrutinize my interests and aptitudes, weighing the company\u2019s vision, work culture, and compensation package before making my choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet, I wasn't happy.<\/strong>\n\nThe reason eluded me. The only certainty was my profound lack of satisfaction with my current life. I had been convinced that landing the job would mark the start of a stable, happy life, but that reality never materialized. It was incomprehensible why a result could be so unsatisfying despite making rational decisions while accounting for every possible variable. I was annoyed, frustrated, angry, and felt a sense of injustice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People often turn to Saju consultations or New Year's fortunes in these moments, don't they?. So I thought, \"Why not give it a try?\". I didn't have high expectations\u2014in fact, I doubted it would help\u2014but I went in \"just in case\". I reasoned that if people were willing to pay for it, there had to be something to it. Even if it were mere superstition, I felt it was more rational to possess even 1% of data to help decode the complex entity that is \"me\"<\/strong> rather than operating in total ignorance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>My Introduction to Saju \u2014 And the Return of Skepticism<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, I gradually explored everything from phone consultations to street stalls and Saju cafes. But the results always left me with a lingering sense of unease<\/strong>. While the general personality assessments seemed fairly accurate, the short-term predictions regarding timing\u2014like when I would part ways with a boyfriend or land a new job\u2014mostly failed to hit the mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimately, I felt Saju was just a pseudoscience for entertainment, incapable of providing a practical guide for life. Concluding it was merely a waste of money, I distanced myself from it once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few years later, while contemplating a transition to freelancing and re-exploring my aptitudes, I happened to come across a Saju video on YouTube. This time, Saju felt different. The reason was that it wasn't about passively listening to a one-sided result; instead, it was a process where I personally looked up my Manse-ryeok (Bazi chart) and followed the analysis while examining my own Saju configuration. Through this, I encountered the rationale behind Saju interpretation for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span>Let\u2019s Verify it<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since then, I have occasionally studied Saju through books and YouTube. However, the materials found in popular books or on YouTube were mostly fragmented, and because each instructor emphasized different points, it was difficult to find a consistent thread of interpretation. I wanted to understand the system more systematically and thoroughly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimately, I decided to learn it for myself. Even if Saju turns out to be a flawed hypothesis, I judged this study to be a worthwhile 'intellectual investment' given that there were few alternatives for navigating life more wisely. Even if my own research eventually leads me to the conclusion that it is unscientific, I felt that I could only speak to myself with confidence if that conclusion was one I reached through my own inquiry, rather than simply relying on the interpretations of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, I have enrolled in a formal Saju educational institution and begun my journey with the goal of obtaining certification. Through this series, I will candidly share the insights and questions I discover along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
